The Career Readiness Report costs nothing. There is no per-student price, no annual license, no tier that unlocks the useful features, no seat limit, no implementation fee and no contract. Every institution gets every capability, unlimited students and unlimited raters, permanently. Career readiness platforms in United States higher education are typically priced per student per year or as an annual institutional license; this one is not priced at all.

Why it is free
The platform is built and maintained by Champlin Enterprises, a software company that funds it from other work. Career readiness measurement is priced per student across this category, and the effect of that is structural: the institutions with the largest enrolments and the smallest budgets pay the most and buy the least, which is exactly backwards relative to which students most need documented evidence of employability.
We would rather the measurement layer were simply available. There is no upsell path, because there is nothing to upsell to.
What free does not mean
Honesty about the limits is part of the offer.
- It does not mean unsupported. Email support is real, and the roadmap is
public and dated.
- It does not mean your data is the product. Student data is never sold,
never brokered and never used to train models. That is in the data processing agreement, not just in a sentence here.
- It does not mean feature-complete. The platform is in beta. What exists
and what is still coming is on the roadmap, including the things we do not have yet.
- It does not mean no procurement. You will still want the
HECVAT, the VPAT and the DPA, which is why all three are published rather than sent on request.
What it costs you in time
The real cost of a platform like this is staff time, so here is an honest estimate. Creating the institution and branding it takes about ten minutes. Importing a roster takes as long as exporting a CSV from your student information system. Setting up an assessment window is a few minutes. The ongoing work is chasing response rates, which is the same work it would be with any instrument.
Total cost of ownership, stated plainly
If you are building a comparison for a committee, the lines that matter are licence cost, implementation cost, per-student escalation as enrolment grows, rater or response fees, export and exit costs, and staff time.
