About the Career Readiness Report and Who Builds It

The Career Readiness Report is built and maintained by Champlin Enterprises, a United States software company, and given to colleges and universities at no cost. It exists because the tools that measure career readiness are priced per student, which means the institutions serving the students who most need the evidence are the least able to buy it.

What this is

The Career Readiness Report is a career readiness measurement platform for colleges and universities. It measures the eight NACE Career Readiness Competencies through student self-assessment plus 360-degree feedback from the employers and faculty who supervised the student's work, and reports competency development by cohort for program improvement and accreditation.

It is free for every institution, permanently, with no per-student cost.

Who builds it

It is built and maintained by Champlin Enterprises, a United States software company that builds and operates its own products rather than taking client work as its main business. Champlin Enterprises funds this platform from that other work, which is the entire mechanism behind it being free. There is no venture funding attached to it, no data brokerage and no advertising.

Why it is free

Career readiness measurement is priced per student almost everywhere it is sold. The effect is structural rather than anybody's bad intent: institutions with large enrolments and small budgets pay the most and buy the least, and those are often the institutions whose students most need documented, employer-verified evidence of what they can do. Community colleges, regional publics and minority-serving institutions are the clearest cases.

We concluded the measurement layer should simply be available. There is no upgrade path because there is nothing to upgrade to, and there is no plan to introduce one.

How we work

Everything we do not have is published. The roadmap carries

dates and an append-only build log, including when a date slips.

Procurement documents are on the public record, not sent after a sales
